Reading B: Native American
Lodge Boy and Thrown Away
- A mother who is pregnant with two sons is killed and her sons are taken out and thrown away
- The red-women, who killed her then sticks a stick inside her to make her appear alive
- Uhhh ow and also what?
- Finding his wife dead and sons missing the husband begins to live alone
- After some time his sons come to him and then they revive his wife also
- The sons succeed in many tasks - defeating an canibol grandma, a serpent and some trees (?)
- Some snakes tried to enter the boys rectum
- Uhhh ow and also what?
- And then they did some more tasks
- Wemicus (a god of some sort) always kills his daughters husbands (classic)
- The New Son-in Law is guided by his wife through a number of tasks
- Moccasin burning, sledding, canoeing, egg retrieval.
- Eventually the son-in-law is successful and Wemicus is turned into a Pike
- This father is (you guessed it) jealous of his son. Mostly for being young and also for sleeping with his second wife (lol) - I feel like there is a lot of father/son tension in these stories
- The father ditches his son on an island and he has to complete tasks to make it back home
- Eventually he does make it and burns his father to death and becomes a bird with his mother
