Jupiter and Juno - Franz Christoph Janneck |
I loved the idea of this storybook because I loved reading the Percy Jackson and The Olympians series when I was younger. This project has a similar premise except that the campers actually represent the Greek Gods themselves! I really like the idea of retelling classic greek myths in this format - I especially like the use of a diary because it really brings you into the story more! I think the way the student designed the introduction is great because it allows you to fully understand the premise before navigating through the site. I think I will want to use a few more pictures than they did but other then that I really enjoyed this story book!
Real House Wives of Greek Mythology
I could not be more obsessed with this idea! What a cool premise in general - Greek Mythology certainly has enough drama to fill 10 seasons worth of Real House Wives - but the execution is even better! Having a script like an actual screenplay really helps differentiate this project from others with a similar set up and I genuinely laughed out loud at parts of it! I think it feels a little strange to have what amounts to a screenplay posted on the website (maybe different formatting would help integrate this more naturally) but I am still a huge fan of this project! Especially that they link to the actual story so you can compare in case it is a myth you are less familiar with!
Youkai Hunters
This storybook covered a topic I am a little less familiar with! While I got a little exposure to Greek Mythology through my Latin classes in high school, my understanding of Japanese mythology is based almost entirely on movies and tv shows. Luckily for me this storybook tells its story in a similar medium - through the eyes of two Youkai Hunters! I really liked how episodic this felt, I would love to do an assignment like this that felt like a novel and put you right in the action. That being said I think this storybook could have better helped to explain what was going on in the introduction - you have to get a few posts in before the author explains anything. I still really enjoyed it though!
